Festival of India comes to Durban

The Ministry of Culture, Government of India in association with the  Consulate General of India, Durban presents Festival of India on Sunday, 22 September 2019 and Monday 23 September 2019 at Kendra Hall’s Main Auditorium. Entry is free & you can collect your passes at Consulate General of India, Durban on 2nd Floor, 1 Kingsmead Boulevard, Kingsmead Office Park & The Gujarati Hindu Sanskruti Kendra at 5 John Zikhali Road, Greyville, Berea.

It is not every day that we get to experience legendary artists present performances in South Africa. The Ministry of Culture has created a wonderfully enthralling programme for any dance & music enthusiast to enjoy!

Day 1 will begin with a performance by Shreyas Abhas, a music collective singing contemporary Indian music with a hint of classical textures followed by a performance by Chennai’s renowned Kalakshetra Foundation of Dance and Music.

Day 2 is pure magic for fans of folk & classical music as the talented Sunanda Sharma presents light classical music together with classical musicians followed by Minister of Parliament, the legendary Odissi extraordinaire, Dr Sonal Mansingh who will present Kasturba.

Entry is free, make sure you collect your passes and attend this beautiful celebration of music, dance and the arts of India & Indian Culture this Heritage Month.
