Gurmeet Choudhary is an Indian actor, model and dancer who gained enormous fame for the role of Lord Rama in 2008’s popular Ramayana opposite his wife, Debina Bonnerjee, who played as Sita. His negative character in the 3-D Tamil Show Mayavi (2006) was highly appreciated and it was one of the most watched shows in Asia.
After the Ramayana Gurmeet starred in the StarPlus hit show Geet as Maan Singh Khurana which was again televised on STAR LifeOK. The supremely popular Punar Vivah or now known as Married Again was a super hit in which Gurmeet enacted Yash Suraj Pratap Sindhia alongside our beloved Jhansi Ki Rani Kratika Senga who enacts Aarti from Punar Vivah/Married Again. During the South Africa Indian Film and Television Awards (SAIFTA) – in September 2013, I had the opportunity to speak with both Gurmeet and Kratika who were indeed overwhelmed by the love they received from their adoring South African fans. Gurmeet received the Best TV Actor Award and Kratika Senga for the TV Best Actress that night.
Gurmeet is Indian TV’s most extraordinary dancer. He was the winner of dance reality show Jhalak Dikhlaja Season 5. He was magnificent along with his choreographer Shampa Sonthalia Gopikrishna. They were considered the hottest dancing jodi on Jhalak’s stage. His performance in Jhalak was always highly appreciated and enthralled the judges, Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar & Remo dsuoza each time. He was 1st runner up alongside Wife Debina on the StarPlus dance reality show Nach Baliye 6 – you can enjoy one our most favourite performances below. Thereafter Gurmeet and Debina competed in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi where Gurmeet was first runner up and Debina was also a finalist.
He was last seen in Mahesh Bhatt’s film Thriller Khamoshiyan alongside actors Ali Fazal and Sapna Pabbi. According to the latest buzz, the actor has returned to television and has signed director Farhan Salaruddin’s upcoming venture titled Swadhinta on Star Plus. He has been paired opposite debutant, Tridha Chaudhary. The show will reportedly be televised from November 2015.
