The concept of the movie is unique and very different from the usual Bollywood movie. The quality of performances by Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal takes the concept and scripting to another level. Another good part of this movie was the entertaining comeback lines and fun dialogues. Sonakshi and Prabu-Deva’s Go Go Govinda item song! The only disappointing part of the movie is thing about the movie is that it seems to steer move away from the main concept and idea too often. You should Watch Oh My God! – For the interesting arguments and wordplays and humour.
This movie is a rather interesting take on God and the rituals that have been mindlessly passed on since generations. This may tend to sounds preach but the film definitely isn’t. Kanji played by Paresh Rawal is a not just an atheist, he even goes as far as to exploit people’s faith in order to run his business. He earns a living by making idols of God and creating out of this world stories to sell them he has to also face the rage of his God-fearing wife. His shop is suddenly destroyed in a curious earthquake that solely targeted his property – Kanji doesn’t fuss too much as he has it insured. Nonetheless the insurer throws-out his claim on the basis that their cover does not include an “Act of God”. Kanji decides to take up the matter with the ultimate authority: in this case, God himself.
He then files a case in the court accusing God of destroying his property and therefore God is liable to compensate him. Kanji then sends notices to all self-proclaimed Godly-men who claim to be in continuous contact with Him. Kanji has to argue the case against a vibrant cast of godly people comprising of Mithun Chakraborthy, Govind Namdeo and the ‘eye-candy’ Gopi Maiyya played by Poonam Jhawer. Mahesh Manjrekar is very good as the lawyer in this film and not forgetting the sizzling Sonakshi Sinha and Prabhu Deva add fun and hype to this tale of Kanji vs God.
Kanji proves that God does exist and God is played none other than the Rowdy Akshay Kumar in a 21st century modern avatar of God. Will Kanji win his lawsuit against, with God by his side? Does he convert and become a believer of God? Watch this fun film and unravel the questions for yourself and decide…. Does God Exist ?… Finally there’s a flick that wants you to actually think use your brain!
