After what seems like a very long wait, the makers of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ released the title track of the film which is said to be the ultimate fan anthem. The song titled ‘Jabra fan’ is composed by Vishal and Shekhar and is a very peppy and upbeat composition. The lyrics by Varun Grover are very catchy and stick around in your head. The song is sung by Nakash Aziz.
In the opening sequece, Gaurav complains that his family doesn’t understand that his idol isn’t just a star but his entire world. Images of his hero can be seen everywhere, from billboards, to hand-drawn film hoardings to market stalls. Khan’s uninhibited dancing is a lot of fun to watch, but the closing frame suggests that this isn’t a film with a happy ending.
The song’s setting in the markets and bylanes of Delhi — where Khan spent his early years before coming to India’s entertainment capital Mumbai — also hints that there may be several autobiographical elements in the film. It’ll be interesting to see if the film gives us any insights into Khan’s own journey from being a theatre actor to one of India’s biggest superstars.
The song starts with Gaurav (SRK), who is die-hard fan of a superstar, Aryan Khanna (also played by SRK), declaring that Aryan is not just a star but his life. The song establishes the fact in a very cute manner where you can almost sense a reverence in Gaurav’s feeling towards his favourite star. The film, as we know, sees SRK playing a double role that of a superstar, Aryan Khanna and another of a crazy fan, Gaurav, who also happens to be his look alike. The story narrates the journey of Gaurav and his passion with his God. What happens when this passions turns into obsession is what makes up the rest of this thriller. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film marks the Bollywood debut of Waluscha D’Souza and is slated to hit screens on April 15 this year.
